WINERIES AND WINE

The north coast has some of the best wineries in the world with the focus being Anderson Valley on the beatufil highway 128 corridor south of the coastal region of Mendocino County. The beauty of Anderson Valley is quietly inspirational... The morning fog rests lightly on the grapes and will soon give way to a warm and sunny afternoon. Anderson Valley is the perfect environment for Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Alsace Varietals. In addition to producing superb Pinot Noirs and Alsace varietal wines, the valley is home to three methode champenoise sparkling houses. Anderson Valley is bubbly paradise. Get your Pinot on !

Phillips Hill Estates - Limited Edition Pinot Noirs

ASK LOCALS IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA`S Anderson Valley what sets their sliver of a wine region apart from the more expansive and more popular haunts in the surrounding area, and they`ll tell you that its what Napa and Sonoma were 20 or 30 years ago. This 15-mile stretch of Mendocino County between Boonville and Navarro is quiet and unassuming, a place where children abound and many tasting-room employees bring their dogs to work. In other words: wine country, in its purest form. And its about three hours from San Francisco. After trying the wine at Phillips Hill (5101 Highway 128, phillipshill.com) in the old apple drying building, break out the sandwiches at a picnic table under the weeping willow out front.

Toulouse Vineyards and Winery

Toulouse Vineyards and Winery

Toulouse Vineyards and Winery The rustic and beautiful Anderson Valley captured our hearts in 1997 when we found our 160 acre property. Towering redwoods and magnificent oaks dominate the landscape overlooking the valley and Navarro River waters below. The plan was simple, plant vines, sell grapes and lead the country life. Our first harvest was a bumper crop, one thing led to another and we produced 400 cases of our own wine in 2002. Thus, the winery was born and the tasting room followed soon after. All of our wines are bottled on site and are tended to with great care. Thank you for visiting us and we hope you enjoy our sustainably handcrafted wines! Here at Toulouse our wines are infused the fun and passion for winemaking. The result is always a mouthwatering wine that`s full-bodied and fruit-forward. Using sustainable, hands-on farming practices our goal is to grow the highest quality grapes and produce the finest Pinot Noir. Email: [email protected]

Lula Cellars

Lula Cellars

Jeff Hansen, winemaker for Lula Cellars, brings nearly 30 years of grape growing and winemaking experience to the brand. Jeffs handcrafted, limited production Mendocino Coast and Anderson Valley Pinot Noirs, along with Zinfandel, Dry Gewurztraminer, Sauvignon Blanc and Rosato (Rose of Pinot Noir) reveal the passion he has for producing world class wines. What does it take to make world class wine? To start with, it takes world class grapes. Then, the grapes must be fermented in a way that allows all of their flavors to be revealed. Next, we use just the right amount of oak barrel aging, which helps to marry the fruit flavors and acids into a harmonious blend. In winemaking, when you let passion be your guide, the finished wine will always reflect that passion! Email: [email protected]

Pacific Star Winery

Pacific Star Winery

The imposing redwood and stone barn structure nestles into the cliff side, protected from crashing waves by a flat rock bench eroded over eons. The cellar is filled with French, Hungarian and American oak barrels and specialty equipment suited to handcrafted wine making. Highest quality grapes, open-top fermenters and a portable grape receiving system allow small lot premium winemaking with critical attention to detail. The unique location lets magical forces come into play; waves crash into sea caves under the cellar, naturally filtering wine from its sediment. Salt from sea air deposits on barrels accelerating osmosis while creating viscous and dense wines. A friendly and fun approach to wine tasting makes Paciifc Star an off-the-beaten path experience worth seeking out. Bring a picnic and a group of friends for a memorable day!
