WHY THE WHALE KNOT – Fort Bragg, California
Follow the whales! Come visit the Mendocino Coast and stay at our fun new property, the Why the Whale Knot, where you’ll enjoy lavish amenities and views of the towering redwoods, as well as easy access to MacKerricher State Park and its famed trails along the Pacific Ocean.
Embrace the possibilities at this luxurious 2700-square-foot vacation rental, which boasts 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, a brand-new kitchen, high ceilings, beautiful stonework, a sunken living room, an entertainment room, and more. Perfect for trips with family, friends, or family and friends, this property features a master bedroom and two smaller bedrooms, as well as plenty of indoor and outdoor space to relax. The large deck offers the perfect outdoor hangout spot with comfy outdoor furniture and peaceful views, and you can fire up the barbecue when you’re ready to enjoy a cookout in this coastal haven.
With such comfortable accommodations, you could be forgiven for contemplating a low-key day indoors, but as soon as you venture outside, you’re in the perfect spot to enjoy the natural beauty of the Mendocino Coast. Hike through the redwoods, go whale-watching or tide-pooling at MacKerricher, and enjoy the fresh coastal air as you spot your new coastal friends: the coast is home to harbor seals, sea lions, whales, and an array of avian visitors, from pelicans to osprey, majestic owls to mischievous ravens. By the end of your stay, you’ll have gotten to know – and love – their wild antics. Situated on 2 acres of mostly-forested land, Why the Whale Knot also offers plenty of options for roaming the woods.
Top off the day with margaritas and hearty Mexican food at the Purple Rose (walking distance from your vacation rental, so no one has to volunteer to be the designated driver) or head south to downtown Fort Bragg or Mendocino for award-winning cuisine created by our talented chefs from the best locally-sourced ingredients. Or, if you’re looking for a casual American classic, check out Jenny’s Giant Burger. Prefer to cook at home? Cleone Grocery is a short walk away or gather ingredients at Roundman’s in downtown for house-smoked delectable or Princess Seafood on the Harbor for everything you need to experience the bounty from the sea.
At the end of the day, fall asleep to memories of the beautiful Mendocino Coast. After a night of sweet dreams, you’ll be ready to take on the world!
Everything is ready to go and waiting for you at this spacious and fully-equipped vacation rental, so there’s really only one more question you need to ask: Why the Whale Knot?
